In the past two days I have experienced a sizable traffic spike for FreeAdLists.com. Until I visited my stat service, I was at a loss as to where the spike was originating from. After reviewing my statistics, I noticed most of the visits were coming from a website called getref.com. Frankly speaking, I thought my classified ads site was being featured.

Being curious and a bit suspicious at the same time, I visited their website to investigate. It brought me to their homepage which was a “Register Page”. According to their website, the site is a tool to gain more referrals for your downline, and they claim to have 80,000 sign-ups and been around since 2003. Apparently, their sign-ups or referrals were receiving credit for visiting my site. Maybe they are planning to use the free classifieds to recruit others into programs (MLM??). I am not paying them to feature the free ads site, so I am still not sure what their impetus is for promoting it.

Has anyone heard of getref.com?
