Quick Tips to Improve Classified Ad Responses

Here are some quick tips to help you get more responses to your listing on FreeAdLists.com – Classified Ads.

  1. Add some interesting details to your listing title. Don’t use outrageous titles.
  2. Add a detailed description to your listing and use the spell checker. The listing should include more than 2-3 sentences.
  3. Provide a price to your listing because most buyers don’t like guessing.
  4. Add photos to your listing. You can add up to 6 photos to your listing.
  5. Lastly, share the listing with your friends and family. There is a good chance your friends and family will share it with their friends on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Delicious or MySpace. You can do that by clicking on the “Share” button on your listing.

FreeAdLists.com Adds a Latest Classified Ads Feature

In case you have not noticed, we added a “Latest Ads” feature. The new feature shows the 20-25 most recently posted classified ads and gives you a quick preview of what is being posted on the site. Check out the latest classified ads today!

As always, if you see any questionable classified ads (e.g. pharmacy, ad posting scams, BS pet ads, loan ads, chain letter/Ponzi type ads, etc), please let us know by flagging or using the “contact us” form. We love bringing down the hammer on scammers and spammers.

Be careful when you respond to that “Remove Me” or “Unsubscribe” Link

We all receive unwanted email everyday and wish it would stop at our command. To get the point across, we sometimes take matters into our own hands . However, you should consider this question first. Did you subscribe to the mailing list in the first place? No? So before you decide to respond to that “Remove Me” or “Unsubscribe” link, you might want to visit Spamhaus.org and read why that might not be such a great idea. Spammers send out millions of emails each day, but they don’t know which ones are valid or invalid. All you are doing by replying to the link is confirming the email address – now it is valuable to a spammer.

Online Classified Ads – Where does this leave print advertising, especially newspapers?

In my last post, I mentioned “Where does this leave print advertising, especially newspapers?” Well, there is a report by a consulting firm estimating Craigslist’s revenue will top $100 million for 2009.

Undoubtedly, this will add more pressure to print advertising revenues. It is no surprise and expect the trend to continue for print, especially in a flagging economy. Everyone likes free or very close to it.

With Craigslist traffic numbers, they could substantially grow revenues but its founder, Mr. Craig Newmark, and CEO, Mr. Jim Buckmaster have made it well-known that they are conservative in growing revenues.

How much more can the classified ads space grow? Frankly speaking, I think this space has a lot more growth potential left.

As usual, you should perform your due diligence to ensure accuracy.  But of course in this case, the job seeker would be a practicing/established attorney so due diligence should be academic.

Always use Caution When Meeting Someone via Classified Ads

Lately, there has been a lot in the press about adult type classified ad postings. This type of advertising is usually acceptable as long as it is within the TOS, legal and not used for predatory purposes. In theory, that sounds obvious and logical. However, the truth of the matter is there are scum-bags/psychos (criminals) in the general population who will exploit the classifieds for illicit and predatory purposes. 

So I strongly recommend that if you plan on meeting someone via the classifieds, you should bring a friend and always meet in a public setting. After all, you do not know this someone. Be alert!

Freeadlists.com – Continously Improving the State of Classified Ads

Freeadlists was born two years ago out of a simple idea. It wasn’t supposed to break any records, it was just meant to be a free classifieds website that strives to have the best features in the classified ads industry.

Years have passed and we have now gotten to the point where the service we offered has become a good choice when trying to buy or sell something. And now it’s time to improve even more by finding quicker and easier ways to search for or sell your products.

FreeAdLists.com Starts Tweeting With Twitter

I have decided to use Twitter to communicate (tweet) some of the new changes going on with FreeAdLists.com. If you haven’t noticed lately, we have been revamping the website. The homepage has consolidated  a bit — less categories — not a zillion of them anymore. No more scrolling marquee for “Featured Ads”.  Now “Featured Ads” are shown two at time and in highlighted boxes.

I hope the readers and posters will find these improvements useful. More are coming…stay tuned.

And by the way, I might also include a ramble or two. I like doing that.

Where is my confirmation email Mister!

I have had a number of complaints about not receiving the confirmation email or simply “my account is not working.” I have tested the confirmation utility several times with different email accounts and it works fine.

Here are a few reasons as to why your email MAY not be reaching your mailbox or your “account is not working.”

1. Your spam killer application is catching the email

2. Your web mail filter diverted the email to the bulk/trash folder

3. Your ISP might be blocking FreeAdLists.com‘s IP address

4. You typed in the wrong email address (happens frequently) or simply forgot which email address you used to register

5. You used a phony email address and the remote mail server complains the account does not exist

6. Your mailbox is full

7. You are a known spammer and your request was deleted

8. You are a known scammer, especially the Nigerian 419 low-lifes – same as #7

9. You did not realize a confirmation email was forthcoming

10.  Your mail server connection died so the message has been in the queue too long

11.   You registered/posted classified ads with several other ad sites on your long list; however, you simply forgot you did not register or post a classified ad with FreeAdLists.com.

12. Contact us for assistance if the aforementioned items do not apply
