I would like to thank you for taking the time to post your free classified ads at FreeAdLists.com. The majority of the ads have been American classifieds centric. I hope you decide to register with us and then visit regularly to post more free ads.

Over the past few months, I have noticed a few things that posters could do to better improve Search Engine Result Pages (SERP) for their classified ads.

If you want to maximize search engine indexing, it is imperative to create a reader friendly, descriptive title and a slightly verbose description for your free classified ad. As for the description, please put some serious thought into it. Search engines will use it, along with the title, to index your classified ad.

Your classified ad description should be detailed and include keywords. But be very careful about keyword stuffing. The search engine bot will detect this infraction and most likely penalize your SERP. The title should be between 5-8 words and the description should be between 50-100 words.

Do not post duplicate classified ads. In general, this hurts all posters, and it is a real turnoff for readers, not to mention damages the integrity of the site. If you have a classified ad listed on another website, simply link the classified ad from your blog, website, or another classified ads website to this site. But do not copy the ad to this site!

Do not be afraid to add pictures to your classified ads. This will attract more buyers to your free classified ad.

Go ahead and flag classified ads that are obvious scams. Again, these types of classifieds ads do not add any value to our community and need to be removed soonest.

1989 Honda Accord for sale
Black Antec Tower 450 watts
2 month old Brother LC-51 multifunction printer
FreeAdLists is Offering Free Classified Ads

I have already received a few nastygrams about removing the website option from the “Register” section. Why did I remove it? The forum was growing quickly but the majority of the website addresses were either pharmacy, spam, or porn. No thanks — We don’t need those types of garbage sites.

I’m frequently receiving emails from people who are asking me to remove their ads. But most these requesters have accounts, please just login and delete your ads. If you forgot your password, please request another one.

Also, I’m thinking about having everyone register prior to posting. The over-posting situation is getting out of hand. People are posting the same ad (but different content) many times over. For those that are blatantly over-posting, please carefully read or re-read our Terms and Conditions (Terms of Service) before posting. Btw, those type of ads are quickly removed.

And one last thing…

If you don’t want people contacting you directly, please don’t put your email or phone number on the ad. Use the anonymous contact form at the bottom of the ad.

The site is growing well and I thank the posters and readers for making that happen.

However, I’m getting a lot of unwanted replies from posters who don’t seem to realize what “noreply” means.

Please don’t respond to the noreply@freeadlists.com email address. It’s a bit bucket address. Worse yet, your potential customer is not getting your reply. Please respond directly to the person who is interested in your ad. See below.

As usual, be careful when dealing with overseas ads that are trying to sell you pets.

Today, I listed a posting with ebay.com and then decided to update my address information. I haven’t used them in a very long while, and I’m always a buyer, not a seller. Well, that set off some flags with them and they promptly “circled the wagons.” My account was suspended until I could verify my status. To re-establish my account, I had to run through a rigorous verification process — really vetted my memory. Whew! It was frustrating to go through but yet encouraging (afterwards) to know such stringent security controls are in place. I’m glad ebay is making it tough on scammers. Keep it up!!

FreeAdLists is growing nicely. People are starting to contact me and asking about certain business arrangements with the AdLists. This is a positive thing moving forward.

However, please don’t contact me if you are going to offer crap. It’s a disservice to others if I allow/entertain it.

Also, for those scammers like these two…go back to school (college, vocational, volunteer, anything) or get a real job and regain your dignity. You should be embarrassed/ashamed to send out this crap.

Oh, by the way, scammer ads will be deleted on sight. They are easy to spot — e.g. not well written, poor grammar, rampant misspellings, obviously ridiculous/untrue, poor punctuation, etc. The majority of the loan ads are scams.
