Potentially Dangerous Classified Ad Posts

Just as with other forms of digital media such as social networking or internet chat rooms, there can also be dangers or dangerous people ready to take advantage of a person if they allow it. The best way to be on guard about those dangers is to understand the forms they can take on classified ad services.

Illegal Items

Never purchase questionable firearms or any banned items via classified ad sites. Not only is this highly irresponsible, but you may find yourself the recipient of legal troubles if you attempt it.

Vehicles without Property Identification

If you are planning to purchase a vehicle and choose to use classified ad sites to browse, stay well away from any ads selling autos that state anything about lack of title or identification, or even about missing VIN numbers. These things may indicate a stolen vehicle and if you purchase it, it will likely be taken from you if you try to register it, until its original owner is found. You may be your money back, but not until they catch the perpetrator who stole it, and you sue them in civil court.

Too Good to Be True

As the old saying goes, it went that way for a reason. When you find offers that seem far too good to be true, the best thing you can do is walk away. However, if you are determined to see it through, be sure you search major search engines with any of their contact information, website addresses, or even email addresses. Check local BBB boards and other government fraud protection venues before ever handing over any cash or financial information.
