Beware of the employment scammer

During this harsh recessionary period, there is no secret citizens around the country are losing their jobs at an alarming rate, and I personally know people who have been affected by this dismal affair. Unfortunately, there are people out there who are seeing this downturn as an opportunity to prey on others.

Lately, I have seen a lot of classified ads related to finding jobs. I would warn readers some of these jobs are probably scams and would advise against contacting any company that requires an applicant’s fee. Recruiters are normally paid by the hiring company so why do they need you to pay a fee??

Common scams I have seen lately are “secret shopper”, clerical data entry, ad posting, assemblying products, medical transcriptionist, medical billing, stuffing envelopes, online surveys, job application fees, product re-shipper, advance-fee fraud, so-call check casher (419 scam), cashgifting, chain letters, and pyramid schemes.

DO NOT provide personal information such as bank numbers, social security numbers, addresses, or anything else you want to keep private to an unvalidated party.
