POST YOUR LEGITIMATE CLASSIFIED AD ON FREEADLISTS.COM

After responding to some comments on another one of my blogs, I started thinking about offering FREE Featured Ads (homepage marquee) to anyone who links back to FreeAdLists.com on their website or blog (preferable homepage). Your classified ad will be seen on the marquee for 7 days. If I receive numerous requests, I will do the features in batches. Don’t ask me to feature obvious spam/scam ads, such as stuffing envelopes, copy/pasting ads, typing at home, making money online, get rich scams, pets, pharmacy, pyramid, porn/adult, or any other shady ad.

Here is what I am proposing:
1. Post your LEGITIMATE classified ad on FreeAdLists
2. Post a comment to the blog as to where the ad is located on FreeAdLists.com and where the linkback is located (your blog/website – prefer homepage).
3. Your classified ad will be seen in the marquee for 7 days.

7 TIPS REGARDING EARN CASH FOR PAID SURVEYS

I have seen several paid survey ads on this classified ads site asking for payment. Not!

Is there such a thing as a marketing company paying you for your opinion? Sure there are survey companies out there doing that but they are like gold nuggets – very scare. In fact, most “online surveys” are scams.

Why do legitimate paid surveys exist in the first place? They exist because large companies are always trying to ascertain what you think of their product or service. These product surveys can vary from autos, education, magazines, phones, perfumes, shipping, cable/telephone, gadgets, web services, apparel, stocks, entertainment, financial, and the laundry list continues. This is an important part of a company’s marketing strategy.

Here are a few tips to consider before joining a survey company.

1. If the survey company is asking you to pay a membership, you can almost be 100% certain it is a scam. The survey company should be paying you (monetarily or gifts), not the other way around.

2. If the company is asking you to pay for paid surveys list, you can pretty much surmise the only one making money on this effort is the operator of the list. Needless to say, they are either a middleman or low-life scammer.

3. If they are asking for credit card information, that should be an immediate RED flag. Don’t give out your credit card information to anyone unless you truly trust the source. Next thing you know, you will probably see some unauthorized charges on the next billing cycle.

4. Remember that legitimate survey companies are using your feedback to make important business decisions relating to demographics, marketing, product development, and advertising. For example, when you try/test a product sample or a service in a store, the survey marketing company or the producer is gaining valuable research information.

5. If you do find a legitimate survey company, make sure the payout level is fairly low. See if the company pays out in the first place and was it in a timely manner. I imagine it would take a lot of surveys to attain a $50 or $100 payout.

6. Be extremely wary of claims of making outrageous amounts of money with surveys. The operators are just trying to bait you into buying their programs. Making money on the Internet is not an easy endeavor. It is like anything else worthwhile in life; you really have to work hard at it.

7. Remember the old US postal axiom: “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” Now that sounds like good advice. Caveat emptor!

CRAIGSLIST SUED BY MINORITY OWNER EBAY

According to an eBay news release, they are suing Craigslist. Why? eBay is suing Craigslist over alleged dilution of its minority interest – details on the news release were scant. eBay owns a 28.4% minority position in Craigslist.

I always thought Craigslist and eBay shared similar interests. This was a complete surprise. I am sure many will be tracking the outcome of this case.

Here is eBay’s statement:
eBay Files Corporate Governance Suit to Protect its Investment in Craigslist

Here is Craigslist’s blog response:
Ebay has filed suit against craigslist and its board of directors

BE CAREFUL OF CHARGEBACK FEES

I have also had a negative experience with chargeback fees. I had accepted the services of a “major payment processor.” I had reversals before but this time it was a chargeback on one of my transactions. After lengthy “investigation” duration, they reversed the charge but then they added a $10 service fee. I was miffed, especially since they “nickel and dime” you to death on even the smallest transactions. I wrote them a letter inquiring about the assessed fee. They responded, even though they found no fault of mine, the fee was standard for a chargeback. Who is protecting their customers? Needless to say, I have limited my business with this “major payment processor.” But again, this is part of doing online transactions where scammers run rampant on the Internet.

Anyone out there have a suggestion for a legitimate payment processor?

DO NOT CROSS-POST YOUR CLASSIFIED ADS

I have a few posters who are pissed that their ads are being deleted or flagged. Why? They are cross posting their junk ads across dozens of categories. This practice is bad for the site and you are definitely not helping your fellow posters. You are a worthless spammer. Nobody likes to visit a site with 100’s of ads of the same type. Those types of ads are spam or scams and will be deleted on sight. Don’t bother asking me why your scam/spam ads are missing from the classified ads site. If you don’t like the TOS, I would strongly suggest you find another free ads site with less stringent rules.

For those who aren’t following the aforementioned practice, I appreciate your patronage. Thank you.

MY TOP 20 CLASSIFIED ADS WEBSITES

Here are my top twenty classified ads websites.

Craigslist dominates the classifieds space on the Internet and forecasted to make an estimated $80 million this year. A few years ago, they were making a lot less, but I guess they decided there was just too much money being left on the table. eBay owns a 25% stake in craigslist.

Ebay-owned Kijiji is much larger than I expected.
